A female guinea pig is able to reproduce when they are about 6 weeks old and males are able to mate when they are 10 weeks. The pregnancy will last approximately 3 months then the babies will be born.

Many pet stores have both varieties of homes for sale that are appropriate and adequately sized. Even though, similar to rabbits, guinea pigs have been predominantly kept in an outdoor hutch it is more difficult to fully appreciate your guinea's as a companion and a family member unless they live with the owner in their home; likewise the animal won't get to know the owner.
