Rs. 200 crore allocated for maintenance and metteling of roads

Shimla, 19 May:

The State Government has allocated Rs. 200 crore for proper maintenance and metteling of roads in the State till now so as to facilitate the commuters. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing a public meeting at Dharot in Seraj assembly constituency of Mandi district today.

Chief Minister said that the main priority of the State Government was to ensure balanced and all-round development of the State. He said that the Pandoh-Kandha road would be improved and strengthened by spending an amount of Rs. 25 crore. He said this would ensure better connectivity to the people of the area. He said that the State Government was ensuring that the development of the rural areas get top priority as over 90 percent population of the State lives in rural areas.

Jai Ram Thakur said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India was poised to become one of the most developed nations. He said that Union Government has provided several developmental projects to the State such as AIIMS, Satellite Centre of PGI, IIIT, 69 National Highways, over one thousand crore Horticulture Project etc.

Chief Minister announced Rs. 5 lakh for improvement of Gohar-Khachi road, Rs. 5 lakh for two tractor roads in Devdhar Panchayat, Rs. 5 lakh for improvement of roads in Bassi Panchayat, Rs. 3 lakh for mahila mandal building, Rs. 2 lakh for community centre Dadoh. He also announced that Rs 10 lakh would be provided under SC Component Plan for construction of one road in the area.

Chief Minister was honoured by several organizations, associations and cultural bodies on the occasion.

Earlier, the Chief Minister performed ‘bhumi pujan’ of improvement and strengthening of Pandoh-Kandha road to be completed at a cost of Rs. 25 crore. He also performed bhumi pujan of DPF Parala-Mandap road, phase-II to be completed at a cost of Rs. 201.60 lakh.

He laid foundation stones of Lift water supply scheme for Bassi and Dharot gram panchayats, Forest Rest House, Dharot and building of Government High School Dharot to be completed at a cost of Rs. 73.21 lakh, Rs. 65 lakh and Rs. 1.30 crore respectively. He also performed opening ceremony of newly upgraded Government High School, Dharot.

Member of Parliament, Ram Swaroop Sharma said that the people of the State were blessed to have Jai Ram Thakur as the Chief Minister of the State. He said that being from a humble background, the Chief Minister understands the expectations and aspirations of the common man. He said that it was due to the efforts of the State Government that Central Government was considerate towards the developmental needs of the people of the State.

BJP Executive Committee Member Gulzari Lal welcomed the Chief Minister and others present on the occasion. He thanked the Chief Minister for providing Rs. 1.3 crore for construction of building for the newly upgraded High school Dharot. He also detailed various demands of the area.

Irrigation and Public Health and Horticulture Minister Mahender Singh Thakur, Mandal BJP President Sher Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur, SP Mandi Gurdev Sharma, Director Higher Education Dr. Amar Dev were present on the occasion among others.
