Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today interacted with the beneficiaries of Jan Aushadhi Yojna, knee transplantation, dialysis and stent implantation of the State at Shimla through video conferencing organized by National Informatics Centre (NIC). He also informed about the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Scheme started by the Central Government.
Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family Welfare B.K. Agarwal said that health plays an important role in human life. Besides physical, there are also mental and social aspects of health. Along with the diagnosed person, the family also suffers in many ways. As people have to bear the adverse effects due to excessive expenditure in the treatment of disease, therefore effective yet affordable medicines, health insurance and other health facilities through beneficial policies and schemes were being provided particularly to middle class and lower class people, he said.
It was informed that under the Jan Aushadhi Yojna, more than 700 medicines were being provided through 300 centres in the country. 23 special category medicines were available by reducing prices of these medicines from 50 to 90 percent. Cost of knee implant has been reduced by 70 percent, stents implant in heart disease from 50 to 70 percent and the cost of medicines has been reduced from 70 to 80 percent. Under Ayushmann Bharat, 50 crore people will get annual insurance of five lakhs. 1.5 lakh health welfare centres will also be opened under the scheme. Apart from this, pregnant women were being provided free medical check-up on 9th day of every month.
Officers of Health Department, Representatives of Jan Aushadhi Centres and beneficiaries of knee implants, dialysis and stent implantation were also present on the occasion.
