Matter to be taken up with GoI to link Paonta Sahib with Saharahpur: CM

The State Government would take up the matter with the central government for linking Paonta Sahib with Saharanpur with rail line to provide rail connectivity for effective industrial development of not only Paonta Sahib area but entire Sirmour district.

This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while interacting with member of Himachal Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Paonta Sahib in Sirmour district on Friday evening.

He said that expiry of special industrial package for the State and GST had posed new challenges for expediting industrialization development in the hill states like Himachal Pradesh. However, Himachal Pradesh had several added attractions such as responsive and transparent administration, industrial peace, skilled manpower and uninterrupted power supply to boost industrial activities.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the state government would not only attract and promote new industrial units, but would also encourage old units for their expansion. The regular interaction with the members of industry would be encouraged for better coordination between the government and the investors.

The Chief Minister was presented a cheque worth Rs 11 lakh by the Association towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Later, the Chief Minister interacted with the members of Bar Association, Paonta Sahib, who submitted their demand charter to him. The Chief Minister announced providing Rs 3 lakh for purchase of books for the Bar Association library and furniture.

He visited Geeta Mandir and Gurudwara Sahib at Paonta Sahib today morning. The members of the Press Club Paonta Sahib also called on the Chief Minister and presented their demand charter.

Speaker, Vidhan Sabha Dr Rajiv Bindal, Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, MP Virender Kashyap, MLA Sukh Ram Chaudhary, former MLA Baldev Tomar, BJP General Secretary Chander Mohan Thakur were present on the occasion among others.
