Policy against Corruption

SHIMLA 25 March:

Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that the people of the State have great expectations from the present State Government, thus the responsibility of the Government has also increased manifold. He was addressing a huge gathering at Dalutpur Chowk in Una district today.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government soon after assuming office, started working for the welfare and development of every area and every section of society. He said that he was committed to provide responsive, accountable and corruption-free government to the people of the State. He said that the State Government would not work with a vengeance, but at the same time, corruption would not be tolerated at any cost. He said that State Government would work with a policy of zero tolerance against corruption.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government in its very first decision lowered the age limit of old age pension from 80 years to 70 years, thereby benefiting thousands of old persons. He said that the State Government also decided to review all the decisions made by the previous Government during the last six months of its tenure. He said that the State has been loaded with a loan burden of Rs 46,500 crore due to wasteful expenditure of the previous Government. He said that it was strange that the opposition was asking for a report card of the about three-month tenure of the present Government. If the present State Government starts asking for the report card of their five years report card, they would land in big trouble, he quipped.

He said that most of the announcements made by the previous Government were made without making proper provisions in the budget.

Later the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Improvement and strengthening of Mubarkpur-Marwari portion of Nangal-Mubarkpur-Talwara Road by spending an amount of Rs 21.13 crore which on completion would benefit over 35,000 population of about 14 villages of the area.

Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Composite Water Supply Scheme for Gram Panchayat Kuneran, left out areas of Gram Panchayat Bahaderkali, Fetehpur, Jawal, Mawa Kohlan, Gondpur Banehra to be completed at a cost of Rs 3.70 crore.

State BJP President Shri Satpal Singh Satti said that the previous Government was patronizing anti-social elements, thus the law and order situation was completely out of control. He said that today BJP was in power in 21 States in the country. He said that the Centre was providing all possible help to the State for its developmental efforts.

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Varinder Kanwar, MLA Gagret Shri Rajesh Thakur while welcoming the Chief Minister in his constituency Gagret said that the constituency was completely ignored during the tenure of the previous Government. He detailed various demands of the constituency. He thanked the Chief Minister for visiting his area within three months of assuming the office.

BJP Mandal President Shri Ram Murti welcomed the chief Guest on the occasion.

MLA Shri Balbir Chaudhary, former Minister Shri Parveen Sharma, District BJP Chief Shri Balbir Bagga, BJP leader Prof. Ram Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Shri Vikas Labru and Superintendent of Police Una Shri Divakar Sharma were present on the occasion.
