126.43 LMT of wheat procured; 98.21% lifted

Chandigarh May 18:

Out of the total of 126.47 LMT of wheat arrivals in the mandis across the State, up to May 17 government agencies have procured 125.88 LMT of wheat and the private traders have procured 55279 MT, informed an official spokesman of the government of Punjab.

More than 122.93 LMT of the wheat procured by government agencies has been lifted from the mandis recording 98.21 percent lifting in the ongoing procurement process. Besides, Rs. 18,840 crore has been released as a payment to the farmers through commission agents of the State.

Amongst the State Procuring Agencies (SPAs), PUNGRAIN is leading with a total purchase of 29.14 LMT wheat, followed by MARKFED with 27.60 LMT, PUNSUP 24.27 LMT, PSWC 17.09 LMT and Punjab Agro 12.59 LMT. Similarly, the FCI has purchased 15.16 LMT of the wheat sold in the mandis of the State.
