Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Nick Jonas announced the birth of their baby via surrogacy. Priyanka Chopra posted on her social media about their overjoy for embracing parenthood through surrogacy.

Since then, people going crazy enough to google about surrogacy. However, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is not the only one who opted for the surrogate for childbirth, the list is long and seems never-ending.

Surrogacy is a legal process where a woman (surrogate mother) carries the child in her womb for the couple who wish to become parents but they are unable to bear the baby due to medical conditions or some other reasons. 

1. Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan

Renowned as the king khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, and Gauri Khan welcomed their third baby via surrogacy in May 2013. They chose to embrace parenthood through surrogacy and named the baby ‘Abram’. Abram was born in 34 weeks and was premature. He is among the most loved celebrity kids.

2. Karan Johar

Director-producer Karan Johar became a daddy of twins via surrogacy in March 2017. Sharing a profound message on his Twitter account, the director communicated the news of the arrival of his newborn twins and expressed his gratitude towards the surrogate mother and the doctor who made the surrogacy feasible.

He named his daughter Roohi which is an alphabetical arrangement of Karan Johar’s mother’s name Hiroo Johar and his son has named Yash after the name of johar’s father Yash Johar.

3. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao

Aamir Khan and Ex-wife Kiran Rao opted for parenthood through surrogacy as Kiran Rao has medical complications and a miscarriage as well. In December 2011, they announced the birth of their son Azad. As reported by Pinkvilla, Amir Khan had said, “I am so humbled by the completeness Azad makes me feel.” 

4. Tushar Kapoor

Tushar Kapoor became a single father of a son through surrogacy in June 2016. He decided to experience parenthood and welcomed his son Laksshya Kapoor via surrogacy. A glimpse of the baby Kapoor is shared more often. 

5. Ekta Kapoor

In January 2019, the film and television producer Ekta Kapoor followed his brother and embraced motherhood with her son who was born via surrogacy.  The Balaji Telefilms’ producer became a single mother via surrogacy. 

It was also proclaimed that Ekta had been through a 7-year-long journey with numerous unsuccessful IUI and IVF attempts, before eventually opting for surrogacy.

6. Sohail Khan and Seema Khan

Actor-Director Sohail Khan and wife Seema Khan also chose to go for surrogacy to have their second baby ten years after their first son, Nirvaan. The couple considered IVF surrogacy as an alternative and their second child, Yohan, was born in June 2011.

7. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra

Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra were blessed with a daughter through surrogacy in February 2020, the proud parents disclosed on social media.

“Samisha Shetty Kundra… Born:15th February 2020 … Junior SSK in the house…. ‘Sa’ in Sanskrit is ‘to have’ and ‘Misha’ is Russian stands for ‘someone like God’… You personify this name, our Goddess Laxmi, and complete our family,” Shilpa wrote along with the glimpse of baby Samisha.

8. Preity Zinta and Gene Goodenough 

The beautiful actress and IPL team owner Preity Zinta announced the newest addition to her life, welcoming twins with her husband Gene Goodenough. She is also on the list of celebs who chose the embrace parenthood through surrogacy. The actress posted on Instagram and welcomed twins- a boy and a girl, named Jai and Gia. 

9. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas 

The most recent couple who opted for surrogacy to enter the parent’s club is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. Priyanka shared the good news on her Instagram where she tagged her husband and posted ” We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much..”. However, the gender and name of the baby are yet to disclose.

Where there is a will there is a way. science and technology have gone so vast that if a couple is willing to have their child but due to medical complications or any other reason they are unable to do so then they can definitely opt for surrogacy and IVF for childbirth.

Celebrities play a vital role in influencing people and creating awareness. An Indian Drama Film released in 2021, Mimialso has a storyline revolving around the concept of surrogacy. Having a baby through surrogacy and IVF is the new normal and not a hush-hush topic anymore in Indian households. It is actually a ray of hope for many.
