JAIL MINISTER SUKHJINDER SINGH RANDHAWA HONOURS DSP & HEAD WARDEN OF AMRITSAR JAIL

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 26:

The Jail Minister, Punjab, Mr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today honoured DSP Balwinder Singh and Head Warden Bhagwant Singh of Central Jail Amritsar for rendering exceptional services in the line of duty.

Disclosing this, Mr. Randhawa said that during the 2 officers while discharging their duty with full devotion recently recovered a big cache of drugs from a water cooler in the Amritsar Jail. The cache included 1780 bundles of bidies, tobacco and 2-2 packets of cigarettes. The minister said that the jails would be turned into reformation homes in a true sense and no anti-social activity would be allowed to take place inside them. Besides, special efforts would be undertaken to nip the evil of drugs in the bud.

The Jail Minister further said that the departmental officers performing exceedingly well would be honoured while those indulging in negligence of duty would face action. He also added that he would review the functioning of the department in a meeting with all the departmental officers next week. ADGP Jails Mr. Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota was also present.
