A Photography & Poetry contest “Chandigarh in Spring” organised by Citywoofer in collaboration with the leading real estate Company ‘Riverdale Aerovista‘ concluded recently.
The competition was held to give a chance to Tricity shutterbugs to capture the vibrant hues and shades of spring in Chandigarh and create awareness among the people towards nature & the environment.
As many as 181 photographs and 70 poems were received from enthusiasts during the contest. The competition was also open for poets and poetesses who wanted to exhibit their creativity on the spring theme.
The winners were felicitated with exciting prizes and cash awards at Riverdale Aerovista’s corporate office, adhering to the COVID-19 norms with winners invited and felicitated individually staggered across 4 days to maintain social distancing and other COVID guidelines.
During the occasion, Sumeet Soni, founder of Citywoofer expressed his gratitude to Mr Sanjeev Jindal, CEO of Riverdale Group for his immense support to make this entire event encouraging and successful.
In the professional category, Amit Sama won 1st place, while Vijay Verma and Kawaljit Singh were announced 2nd and 3rd winners respectively. In the amateur category, Vishnu Verma was declared the winner and Pratibha Sharma bagged second place in the competition.
Competing in the ‘Chandigarh In Spring’ Poetry Competition, Poonam Kapoor clinched 1st prize while Gayatri Sharma bagged 2nd and Neha Mehta settled for 3rd place.
In the ‘Chandigarh In Spring Photography Early Bird contest’, in the amateur category, Anuj Kumar and Urvashi Khurana were declared as winners, while in poetry Rekha Bhardwaj won the competition.
In ‘Comment A word For Spring’ and ‘Caption This Picture Contest’- Aashi Sharma and Shivani Ravi respectively were declared winners.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anu Dua Sehgal, the contest’s curator said, “It was good to see the overwhelming response from the contestants.”
The entries were judged by 4 eminent personalities plus a committee that has the distinction of having worked in related fields.
The members of the Jury panel included Dr Archana R Singh, a poetess & professor, School of Communication, PU; Amit Sood, a renowned photographer; Neeraj Jain, a photography enthusiast & Vikram Bansal, another passionate photographer of repute.
Col Inderjeet Kumar, President, Strategic Planning & Corporate Relations, Riverdale Aerovista Group congratulated the winners and said, “Spring is the season when the city undergoes a beautiful transformation from winter landscape to the vibrant hues.
I want to thank all our participants, who have represented the nature & beauty of this season with their beautiful pictures and thoughtful expressions through beautifully chosen poetic words.”
In total, 20 winners were felicitated among different categories and were handed over cash prizes plus vouchers worth over 1 lac supported by different partners of the event which included JJ Nikkamal, AnuSwar, Sultan, Baba Dairy, Thunder Zone & Cinepolis, to name a few!
The event also witnessed a special contest to capture the Neoclassical Spanish Revival Architecture being built as a part of the Riverdale township adjoining aerocity.
In doing so, the photographers were enthused with the beauty as it breaks the monotony among many other residential offerings within the Tricity.
The winners were handed over cash prizes and special Aerovista merchandise by Col. Inderjeet Kumar.
