International diabetic foot meet at PGIMER

The Department of Endocrinology, in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University, the UK, is organising an international diabetic foot conference on February 8 to 9 at the PGIMER here.

The aim is to harp on research collaborations for the neglected field of foot complications with the UK and other like-minded researchers from all across India, including JIPMER Puducherry, CMC, Vellore, Amrita Institute, Kochi, AIIMS, Raipur, IPGMER, Kolkata, and also with engineering institutes such as CSIR, Bengal, and CSIR, Chandigarh.

The Department of Endocrinology maintains a prospective registry of more than 4,000 patients with diabetic foot ulcers, including 500 patients of charcot neuroarthropathy.

It is said that patients with charcot neuroarthropathy have three times increased risk of mortality as compared to routine patients of diabetes.
