While addressing a public meeting at Kelodhar in Seraj assembly constituency of Mandi district, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that State Government has earmarked an amount of Rs 2572 crore for providing irrigation and drinking water facilities to the people of the State during the current financial year. He said that endeavour of the Government was to bring more and more area under irrigation facility so that farmers could go for crop diversification instead of traditional crops.

Jai Ram Thakur said that this was his first visit to Kelodhar after becoming the Chief Minister of the State. He thanked the people for giving him this responsibility. He said that it was after years of waiting that the Mandi district got opportunity to lead the State. He said that during the last four months, the State Government has initiated several welfare schemes for the development of the State. He said that effort of the Government was to give priority to development of those areas which have remained neglected so far.

The Chief Minister said that soon after assuming office, the Government decided to lower the age of senior citizens from 80 years to 70 years to get social security pension without the income limit criteria. He said that the Government was committed to provide responsive, transparent and accountable administration to the people of the State. He said that Hoshiyar Singh helpline has been launched for curbing incidents of illegal mining, drug abuse and illegal forest felling.

Jai Ram Thakur said that better road connectivity, especially in rural areas was the main concern of the State Government. He said that the Kandha-Bah-Batand road would be strengthened in order to facilitate the people of the area.

He said that the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was forging ahead on the path of progress and prosperity. He said that 22 states of the country have BJP governments, which speaks of the faith of the people of the country in the leadership of Narendra Modi. He urged the people of the State to give their wholehearted support to the Prime Minister in 2019 elections.

Earlier, the Chief Minister performed ‘bhumi pujan’ of Kandha-Bah-Batand road (Phase-II) to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 358.53 lakh. He laid foundation stone of IPH Office building and residence at Kelodhar to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 74.36 lakh and of Science Block building of Government Senior Secondary School Kelodhar on which about Rs 1.50 crore would be spent. He also inaugurated IPH Sub Division at Kelodhar.

Chief Minister announced Rs 15 lakh for Kelodhar Panchayat for various developmental works, Rs 10 lakh each for GP Bara, GP Saroha and GP Parwara. He also announced Rs 3 lakh for mahila mandal Kelodhar.

Irrigation and Public Health and Horticulture Minister Mahender Singh Thakur said that out of the four parliamentary constituencies, Shimla, Kangra and Hamirpur have given Chief Ministers to the State. He said that after a long wait Mandi Parliamentary constituency has given a Chief Minister to the State in form of Jai Ram Thakur. He said that the State was witnessing allround and balanced development under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

Member of Parliament, Ram Swaroop Sharma said that the people of the State were grateful to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah for entrusting the responsibility of heading the State to the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. He said that the Chief Minister in the first budget presented by him has introduced 30 new schemes. He said that the best coordination between the Centre and the State was bound to make Himachal Pradesh, one of the most developed States of the country in near future. He said that Mandi parliamentary constituency was completely ignored in matter of development during the tenure of the previous Government.

Pradhan Kelodhar Panchayat Jamna Chauhan while welcoming the Chief Minister thanked him for providing sub-division of IPH for the panchayat. She also detailed various developmental demands of the area.
