JAIL MINISTER SUKHJINDER SINGH RANDHAWA

CHANDIGARH, MAY 22:

The Jail Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has ordered the suspension of 4 officers in the matter pertaining to the fleeing of 2 prisoners from the Ludhiana Central Jail recently. The minister took the action after an enquiry ordered into the incident found the officers in absolute negligence of the duties expected of them.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman said that those suspended included Superintendent Jail Shamsher Singh Boparai, Deputy Superintendent Jail Manjit Singh Tiwana, Assistant Superintendent Jail Parwinder Singh and Head Warder Nishan Singh.

It is worth mentioning that S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on day one had made it clear in no uncertain terms that the functioning of the Jail department would be streamlined and anybody found indulging in negligence of the duty would be strictly proceeded against and there would be zero tolerance for laxity.
