    PAN to become inoperative after March 31 if not linked with Aadhaar

    The Income Tax department says your PAN will become inoperative if you don’t link it with Aadhaar by March 31, 2020, according to a PTI report.

    The deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking has been extended multiple times. The previous deadline was December 31, 2019.

    If your PAN becomes inoperative, you’ll be liable for all consequences under the I-T Act for not furnishing, intimating or quoting it.

    WHAT IF I LINK PAN AND AADHAAR AFTER MARCH 31?

    If you link PAN and Aadhaar after March 31, your PAN will “become operative from the date of intimation of Aadhaar number”.
