Shri. Kamaljit Singh Panchhi President and members of Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17 firmly believe that pollution free environment is the call of time and needs to be taken as a joint venture by involving traders and president welfare associations of the city.
We trust honestly that charity begins at home and until & unless we involve ourselves in depth for the cause, we have distant hope to cause.
We are proud to mention that our Shri Jitender Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Chandigarh motivated us when he himself along with other officers of the corporation drove on cycle once a week to their office just to be a guide star to control pollution in the city.
Shri. Kamaljit Singh President and members of Chandigarh Traders Association did also ride to their business premises on cycle and pledged to use cycle once a week to their premises.
On the occasion, Mr. Panchhi urged the Chandigarh Administration to create smooth cycle tracks in Chandigarh having proper lighting for safety of the cyclists. The benefits of using cycles like saving of petrol and less pollution in City Beautiful leading to health standard of living must be publicized to spread awareness in residents of Chandigarh. In addition to this, Chandigarh Administration should also look into the possibility of converting Diesel buses to CNG (like done for autos recently) as they are one of the major causes of pollution in the City.
Mr. Panchhi appeals to all the citizens of Chandigarh to abide by pollution control norms and come to their premises/offices on cycle once in a week and support this initiative taken by MC Chandigarh.
