Chandigarh, February 26:
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has called Congress MLAs for Pre-budget discussions on March 1 to take their inputs in budget formulation.
The meeting, ahead of the budget session, is aimed at further strengthening the coordination between the Congress government and the party’s elected representatives, which the Chief Minister has been promoting through various initiatives in recent months.
Captain Amarinder will use this opportunity to take the views of the Punjab Congress MLAs on various issues related to the provisions of the proposed budget, according to an official spokesperson. The thrust will be on prioritising the key areas requiring immediate attention in the budget, said the spokesperson.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar has welcomed the move, describing it as a path-breaking initiative on the part of the Chief Minister. The meeting will go a long way in ensuring close cooperation between the government and the party for the successful implementation of the Congress promises and programmes in the interest of the welfare of the people, he added.
