CM lauded Role of Vidya Bharti Institutions in imparting quality and value based education to students

SHIMLA 26 April:

Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur today inaugurated ‘Chet Ram Gyan Bhawan’ constructed at a cost of Rs. 60 lakh at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Vikasnagarin Shimla here today. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that in the era of cut throat competition for success it was a matter of concern that the education system has been lagging in values and culture.

The Chief Minister said that the Vidya Bharti has established over 25,000 educational institutions throughout the country which were providing quality education to over 33 lakh students. He said that the present education system in India was a product of Lord Macaulay as the Britishers wanted to make the Indian education system in such a way that it produced only educated people, without any respect and place for culture and values. He said that even after 72 years of independence, we were following the same education system. He said that the ray of hope lied in institutions being run by the Vidya Bharti, which even today were following our rich culture and traditions.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that we should work together for preserving rich culture and tradition of our country. He said that students should be encouraged to have pride in their traditions. He said that the students of Vidya Bharti were excelling in every field and congratulated the students for their excellent performance in recently declared board results.

He said that the State Government would take all necessary steps to raise standard of education in government educational institutions of the State. He said that the State Government would open 10 Residential Schools in the State for imparting best education to the students. He said that for this a provision of Rs 25 crore has been made in the current year budget.

Chief Minister honoured Ms. Deepali of Saraswati Vidya Mandir Bilaspur for securing 10th position in 12th board exams.

Chief Minister announced Rs 31000 from his discretionary fund for the students performing cultural programme on the occasion.

Transport and Forest Minister Shri Govind Singh Thakur said that the motto of education must be to serve the society so as to make India the ‘Vishav Guru’. He said that Vidya Bharti was one of the biggest organizations in India working towards imparting value based education to students. He announced Rs 5 lakh for the strengthening of the Chet Ram Gyan Bhawan.

Organizing Secretary Himachal Pradesh Shiksha Simiti Shri Rajinder welcomed the Chief Minister and others on the occasion. He said that the Saraswati Vidya Mandirs throughout the State were providing value education to the students of the State.

Himachal Shiksha Simiti President Shri Deviroop presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion by the school children.

Education Minister Shri Suresh Bhardwaj, MLA Shri J.R. Katwal, Mayor Municipal Corporation Smt. Kusum Sadret, RSS Pracharak Shri Sanjeevan were present on the occasion among others.
