CHIEF MINISTER FLAGS OFF SWACHHATA JATHA FROM SHIMLA

SHIMLA, 18 April:

Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur today flagged off the Swachhata Jatha from ‘oak over’ on the occasion of ‘Swachh Bharat Parv’ under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan today. He also administered oath of cleanliness to the representatives of Municipal Corporation Shimla and nearby Panchayats.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that Swachatta Abhiyan was an ambitious endeavour of the Prime Minister Shri Narinder Modi to make our nation clean and salubrious. He said that the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan would be launched throughout the country and state from 14th April to 5th May.

He said that the campaign would cover all the Gram Panchayats, development blocks and districts of the State.

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that various activities would be carried out throughout the state. He urged the people of the state to give their whole hearted support to make the campaign a grand success. This would not only make the state one of the frontrunner in efficient implementation of campaign but also add to its beauty. He said that Himachal Pradesh has been awarded Rs. 20.50 Crore for doing commendable work in the field cleanliness.

Secretary Rural Development Dr. R.N. Batta, Director Rural Development Shri Rakesh Kanwar, Mayor MC Shimla Smt. Kusum Sadret, Deputy Mayor Shri Rakesh Kumar were present among others.
