TEARFUL ADIEU TO DR. M.S. RANDHAWA’S WIFE IQBAL KAUR

Chandigarh, February 20:

The wife of Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa, first Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh and one of the most prominent sons of Punjab, Mrs. Iqbal Kaur was given a tearful adieu today. She passed away yesterday at the age of 101. She is survived by a son and 2 daughters. Her cremation was held at Sector-25, cremation ground.

On behalf of the Chief Minister, Punjab, cabinet minister Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu paid homage by laying the wreath. The minister also condoled the demise of Mrs. Iqbal Kaur with her family members and prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul. On the occasion, DGP Punjab Mr. Suresh Arora, DGP Mr. Hardeep Dhillon, Chairman Punjab Kala Parishad Dr. Surjit Patar also paid last respects by laying a wreath.

The funeral pyre was lit by her son Jatinder Singh Randhawa, Grandsons Ranjit Singh Randhawa, Satinder Singh Randhawa and Sajit Singh Randhawa. Among others present on the occasion included Asha (Daughter of the deceased), Members of Randhawa family, Mr. Gulzar Singh Sandhu (A close friend of Dr. M.S. Randhawa), Senior Journalist Mr. Shingara Singh Bhullar, Litterateur Mr. Manmohan Singh Daun, Vice Chairperson of Punjab Kala Bhawan Dr. Neelam Man Singh Chaudhary, President Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi Mr. Diwan Manna, retired IAS officer Mr. N.S Kang, IG Mr. Jatinder Aulakh and DIG Mr. Gurinder Singh Dhillon.

Remembering Mrs. Randhawa on the occasion, Mr. Sidhu said that she was a sacred and a pure soul who inspired Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa to accomplish great deeds. The minister also said that her contribution towards the success of Dr. Randhawa cannot be forgotten. Adding more, Mr. Sidhu said that she was an iron lady and always adhered to the high moral values who always lived life simply and inculcated ethical values in family members.
