119.84 LMT OF WHEAT PROCURED IN THE STATE

WHEAT PROCURED IN PUNJAB

Chandigarh May 4:

Progressive procurement of wheat by the State Government agencies and the private traders is to the tune of 119.84 LMT out of the 120.30 LMT arrival in the mandis by May 3, informed an official spokesman of Punjab Government.

The spokesman said that out of the total procurement of wheat in the procurement centres across the State, the Government agencies have procured 119.37LMT while the traders have procured 47184 MT.

Detailing agency-wise, he said that PUNGRAIN has procured 2759618 metric tonnes amounting to 23% of the total procurement, MARKFED procured 2634671 MT which amounts to 22%, PUNSUP procured 2311482 MT leading to 19.3%, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC) procured 1629107 MT which is 13.6%, Punjab Agro Food Corporation (PAFC) procured 1190783 MT approximating to 9.9% while FCI procured 1411801 MT which amounts to 11.8% of the total wheat procured so far. Adding to this is a procurement of 47184 metric tonnes of wheat by private traders that is equivalent to 0.4% of the total procurement.

He further informed that 88.10 LMT of the wheat has been lifted by the State Government which amounts to 82.25% of the procurement 90% of the total payment due has been disbursed.

The spokesman further informed that district Sangrur is leading with a total procurement of 10.85 LMT of wheat up to May 3, 2018 followed by Patiala at 8.91 LMT and Ludhiana at 8.76 LMT.
