WORLD PUNJABI CONFERENCE

Chandigarh, March 9:

The 2-day World Punjabi Conference, which is starting in city from tomorrow, will express the concerns of millions of Punjabi habituating around the world.

Addressing a press conference at Punjab Kala Bhawan here today, HS Hanspal, chairman-World Punjabi Conference and Dr. Surjit Patar, chairman-Punjab Arts Council said that Punjab is on cross-road now. Its economy is in the bad shape, peasants, which are back bone of this state, are on the way to suicides, young generation is depressed due to various reasons, education system is trembling and security is also a subject of concern for all the Punjabis.

Even Punjabi language is also not getting due respect in the education, Administration and its own people as well. Intellectuals, authors, writers and other fine arts exponents are also not able to create awareness among all the stakeholders, they asserted.

The different experts on the subjects will actively deliberate in the penal discussions during 2-day conference. Outcome of these discussions will placed before a special session of representatives of different political parties and they will be asked to explain the vision of their parties to address these problems being faced by Punjab and Punjabis. We hope that this conference will be able to suggest short term and long term remedies to sort of Punjab, said DrPatar.

Meanwhile, five eminent personalities from the different walks of life will also be felicitated during a conference. They include; Dr. S S Johl, Rajkumari Anita Singh, Jang Bahadur Goel, Sukhi Bath and Inqbal Mahal.

Delegates from Canada, USA, England, Germany, France, Italy and other countries and from all over India will take part in conference.

The seven sessions on various topics will be held during conference.

The 1st session will be on Punjab and Education which include panelists like Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU Amritsar, Dr. B.S. Ghumman, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala, Prof.A.K.Grover, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab University, Chandigarh and Janak Raj Mehrok, Secretary, Punjab School Education Board.

The 2nd session will be on Economy, Peasantry and Suicides. The 3rd session will be on Punjab Security: Situation and Concerns. On first day evening, a poetical symposium of NRI poets will be held which will be moderator by DrSarbjit Kaur Sohal, president of Punjab Sahit Academy.

On 2nd day, the 4th session will be on Punjabi language. The 5th session will be on PunjabiLiterature&Arts. The 6th session will be on Punjabi Diaspora. The 7th session will be on Political Views.
