The Zirakpur Municipal Council passed a Budget of Rs 90 crore for financial year 2020-21 at the General House meet today.
Dera Bassi MLA NK Sharma along with councillors, including Kulwinder Sohi, president, MC, conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
The MC official said of Rs 90 crore, Rs 70 crore has been set aside for development works, while the remaining will be spent under non-plan head.
The Budget was passed within an hour in a meeting chaired by MLA Sharma and Executive Officer Manvir Singh, among others.
The civic body officials said Rs 2 crore has been approved for contingency, Rs 18 crore for establishment, including salary of staff and sweepers. Last year, the MC had a Budget of Rs 65 crore.
The issue of unauthorised construction and encroachments on the MC land and working out an agreement with the Forest Department to take over maintenance and upkeep of two nature parks was discussed by several councillors.
Sohi said they would achieve the target and would complete development works on time.
